Tyrolean Tradition

Tyrolean-inspired garments have been part of Florence Eiseman’s design legacy for decades. In this context, Tyrolean refers to the traditional costumes of the people of the Tyrol, a region in the Alps now parceled out among Austria, Germany, Italy, and Switzerland. Stylized lederhosen straps and traditional heart-shaped appliqués reference this regional design. The jumpers and shortalls are gray, green, red, and white and often include a white blouse or turtleneck. Variations on this popular garment have consistently appeared in Eiseman Fall/Winter collections since the 1960s.
