Brother-Sister Go-Togethers
Florence Eiseman is best known for the dresses she designed for young girls, but she also created shortalls for little boys and dresses for girls through age twelve. Matched clothing for all the children in a family, especially paired outfits for brothers and sisters, was a key Eiseman innovation. By the mid-1950s the company’s distinctive appliqués were gendered in what were called “Brother-Sister Go-Togethers.” Similar imagery was altered for boys and girls, with the fletching on an arrow for a brother inverted into flower petals for his sister or a mouse into a cat.
