Helen Cookman designed this suit with a cropped jacket to eliminate the discomfort that longer jackets often caused wheelchair users. Both disabled and nondisabled persons modeled items in the Functional Fashions line. Here, nondisabled model Manson Burdell “Cye” Perkins displays the suit’s reinforced underarms for greater durability against crutches. The backless vest slips over the user’s head, and the tie is clip-on. The trouser legs are reinforced against braces, and the front pockets are angled for seated access.
