The Green movement used to be relegated to fringe makers and thinkers. But today it is a universally understood and lauded concept. All over the world, innovative scientists, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and artists are exploring ways for all of us to live more responsibly and sustainably. This installation features the work of fifteen furniture makers who have been inspired by the call to be “green” in different ways. Some focus on using green materials while others have pioneered efficient modes of production and shipping, and, in some cases, even planned for the eventual recycling of their products.
Unlike many museum exhibits, Green Furniture features works that you are invited to touch. Please be seated—but treat the objects with care. Our belief is that the essential values of living green can only take hold if they are accessible, and we have designed this exhibition with that belief in mind.
