Peteran’s engagements with the discipline of wood turning have a mischievous but affectionate quality. Following the notoriety of Untitled So Far, seen nearby, he was invited to participate in another residency, this one hosted by the Wood Turning Center in Philadelphia. There he produced some of the wittiest works of his career, including a series of bracelets made by steadily grinding pencils in a child’s plastic sharpener—a humorous commentary on the art of “wood turning.”
