The attribution to Huntington is based on a jug that descended in a Huntington family. These objects are thought to date from the 1780s when Jonathan Titus owned the property until it sold on February 27, 1805. The lip on the flask matches the lips on the other two vessels. All three vessels were acquired locally. It should be noted that this kind of attribution is not foolproof; however, the importance of local knowledge and provenance becomes important when no other evidence is available. |
