Figure 24 Sherds of narrow-mouthed vessels, Henry Piercy, Alexandria, ca. 1792–1809. Lead-glazed earthenware. Wheel marks seen on the interior surface indicate that these sherds, from the Piercy kiln site, come from narrow-mouthed vessels such as jugs and pitchers. The potter smoothed the interior of wide-mouthed bowls, porringers, and chamber pots. |
