Both the base of the pot and the inside of the cover are marked with “A” in underglaze blue; the pot is enameled with molded shoulder decoration. The form of this teapot, together with its lion finial, suggest derivation from an unglazed stoneware or a salt-glazed prototype, possibly from Staffordshire or even South London.
