Even though the eighteenth-century example from which this was copied was decorated by hand, the basic design of a reproduction was silk-screened and applied in monochrome—here, in manganese purple—and the piece was fired. Were the decoration painted entirely by hand, it would be impossible to produce the quantity necessary and still have the decoration as close to the original as required. |
