Figure 29 Pitcher fragment, England, ca. 1815. Creamware. This pitcher, found in a privy on a residential site at 414 King Street, commemorates the end of the War of 1812. The transfer print depicts a soldier standing on a lion—representing Britain—and gesturing toward a merchant ship under sail. American flags and weapons of war ornament the cartouche. A hunting scene is on the reverse. |
