Ma(s)king Her is an AfroSurrealist dance theater work centered on women of color as empowered future beings, countering a real life narrative where their presence is often subjugated to silence and/or invisibility.
Chicago-based collaborative Honey Pot Performance adapted the work in response to artist Fo Wilson's installation Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities at the Lynden Sculpture Garden, where they performed the piece on August 13, 2016.
Eliza's Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities is a collaboration with the Chipstone Foundation. Ma(s)king Her is part of a series of programs sponsored by Chipstone and the Lynden Sculpture Garden in which artists/collectives are commissioned to respond to the installation.
