Object Lab 7.0 students Megan Cullen, Athanasia Giannetos, Alice Gong, Sara Hasted, Andrew Kim, Lindsay Koso, Selena Shabot, Katherine Trotter, and Emily Watlington looked past conventional object and museum categories to create new interpretations for a clock, chest, and fire screen. For this exercise, students were inspired by the video, "This is Not a Chair," created at Chipstone as part of the Tangible Things project. Students worked with mentors Temple Burling, Carthage College Associate Professor of Biology, Martha Glowacki, Madison-based artist, and Sara Schechner, Curator of the Collection of Historical Scientific Instruments at Harvard University. This film, created by Jenny Plevin, documents the innovative interpretations made possible by close looking and questioning categorization.
